When I was looking for a place to shoot, I really did not think that Allentown was all that interesting. However, as I walked near the

bar, Stooges, I happened to meet a man by the name of Tom Brooger. I began talking to him casually, and then I asked if I could

document their life and new home. Each time I visited the Broogers I learned more and more facets of their life. This couple was

newly married this house on Liberty Street in Allentown six or seven months before I encountered them. Tom and his wife Karen

toiled and continue to work on making their "dream home." However, what was interesting was that their life is not a typical dream.

The Broogers live across the street from a graveyard and a bar, and yet when someone steps inside their house, it is beautiful

and comfortable. The way that the two met actually mirrors the abnormal setting that they were in because Karen and Tom met when

Tom separated from his first wife. Tom, the landscaper and Karen, the Destination Wedding Planner were just two hard working

individuals who happen to joy in life through its simplicity. The two do not focus on small issues, but are more concerned about the

grand scheme. They seek happiness despite the stress they both face whether with work, family or making a home for themselves.

The Broogers proved to me that location is not everything, and what is important is what is seen beneath the surface.
